a very special moment
I am happy to join with you today in what will go down as the greatest demonstration of push technology in the history of our nation
3 iphone generations ago, a great american who shadow we stand in today announced the iPhone. the came as a great beacon light to millions of palm and winmo users who had been seared by the flames of symbian and palmos. the stevenote showed daybreak to a long night of software captivity.
but 3 years later the iPhone user is not free. 3 years later we are still crippled by carrier exclusivity and an unjust app store approval process. 3 years later the iphone user lives on a lonely island of restrictions in a vast ocean iphone sales. and so we have come here to dramatize this shameful condition.
Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.
And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the apple dream.
I have a dream that iPhone users will rise up and live the true meaning of its creed “think different”
I have a dream that on the silicon valleys of california, the sons of former app store approvers and the sons of app developers will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood
i have a dream that one day even AT&T, a carrier sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of opression, will be transformed into a oasis of multimedia messaging and reasonable tethering rates
I have a dream where my children are judged not by the color of their phone, but by the contract of their carrier
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day, down in Redmond, with it vicious monopolists, with its CEOs armpits dripping the words of “developers” and “developers” — one day right there in Redmond little black iphones and black ipod touches will be able to join hands with little white iphones and white ipod touches.
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that every silicon valley be exalted, every hill and Mountain View shall be made low, the rough place will be made plain, and the infinite loops made finite. “and the glory of Steve Jobs shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together”
Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
